L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N

Today I tried something new: a blouse under my chambray dress. It created a pleasing school-uniformish look. To break up the boring neutrals a bit, I added a bright red belt and flats. When I was littler I always wanted to have a school uniform, but now it seems I would get too bored almost immediately.

some good news: my garden is starting to grow out really nicely. I picked a few round, red cherry tomatoes for a snack.
In other news, I've bought myself a skirt covered in pear print from urban outfitters' sale. Photos coming soon!

Dreamer

I've really been doing a lot of research on photography lately. Who doesn't want to be like  a professional photographer, capturing such surreal beauty in everyday things? This Lomography camera in particular really catches my eye. It shoots photos the old fashioned way- manually and with film. The photography people have taken with it reminds me of unique, crackly old vintage pictures from decades ago.

Possibly my favorite detail of this camera is the word "dreamer" around the lens. What a nice touch.

Cross Your Fingers, Hold Your Toes

Well, I re-wore this dress. Not surprising since it's so flattering and easy to wear. All day I was finding little twigs stuck in it leftover from my adventure, from this post a little while ago.

I love these sandals. They are so comfortable, versatile, and special.

Larger Than Lifesize

All of the sudden and for no apparent reason, I decided I needed a pair of Doc Martens. The ones I ended up buying off Ebay are vintage, the originals made in England! Despite my original concern that they might resemble orthopedic corrective shoes, I have really fallen in love with them and can't wait to wear them more!

Blow Away

I was unable to post due to a short trip down to San Diego, but have still taken a few days worth of pictures while I was gone! hopefully with a free afternoon and a rather large supply of gummy penguins, I'll be able to put them all up.
If the dress I wore in this post isn't my favorite, then it's this one! I was hesitant to buy it, because Forever 21 clothing doesn't last very long (as another dress I have with a broken strap proves) but it was simply too pretty to pass up! my favorite part of this dress is it's unique lace yoke straps, unfortunately, these photos don't really show it very well so I'm hoping to take a few more detail pictures next time I wear it.

Don't Even Look at me Looking my Best

This might be my absolute favorite Mumford and Sons song. It's a shame that it isn't available on itunes. I guess really should download free like everyone else, but I think I feel better knowing my songs are bought the old fashioned way.

I Want Brogues

I really, really want the oxfords being sold here, and for sale at only $30, they're cheap! Essentially everyone who knows me will tell you that I have entirely too many pairs, but I don't think I will ever have enough oxfords.

What To Wear on an Adventure

answer:

this!

These pictures were all from yesterday. Sorry, I came home too late to write a post! the day started with a sunny picnic with friends. These were taken by my friend and his amazing new camera.

Next, a makeshift adventure with another friend.
Out of nowhere, we decided It was just about time we found a way into the closed off old kiddie park in town. I can't tell all the details, but the adventure included: sneaking into a private apartment building, a creepy unlit elevator, a bottom floor, a steep hill covered in knee-deep ivy, a hopped fence, collected flowers, getting caught, escaping, a hole in a chain link, a dead end, a hidden field of  orange flowers, and finally, one last jumped fence until we were in the park. These photos were proof  to some naysayers that we could make it. there is no better feeling than doing something they say you can't.

Made By Maid- Laura Marling

This is probably my favorite (if not most worn) dress. I will wear it until it's rags, and then continue to wear it until people start giving me pitiful looks and dropping spare change at my feet. I only wish that Cotton On still carried it, so I could have bought more than one!
I decided to wear it today with my new oxfords for a simple look for the first day of the last week of school.

On the topic of florals, who wouldn't love a floral backpack? I know I would never put one down. I particularly love the packs here and here.

Bigger and Stronger, but Less Alive

Sucessful trip to goodwill today! Goodwill is such an amazing place for me, with often great quality clothing at such low prices. My problem is getting someone to stay with me for the hour or so I take to look through the racks! I hope to find someone soon who is willing to stay inside as long as long as I do.
I've been wishing for some ankle high oxfords since practically the beginning of time, so I'm surprised that I didn't pass out from happiness right there in the shop when I found these never worn, spanish made shoes in exactly my size!
My second purchase is a tan corduroy H&M blazer, mistakenly marked as a children's top, only $3.99.

Obsessions-Marina and the Diamonds

I've been a Marina and the Diamonds fan for a while now, and, after showing them the fantastic video for her song Hollywood, have recruited a few of my friends as well. But it's not just the urge to sing the lyric "Oh. My. God. you look just like Shakira!" at the top of my lungs that makes me love this artist, but her beautiful, deep voice and matching lyrics. I think this song really highlights both of these things, as well as having a killer video. Enjoy!

I Swear I Was Born Right In This Doorway

I have recently fallen in love with huarache-style sandals. Though their less than glamourous name can lessen their appeal, I can't help but imagine these interesting and individual sandals with all kinds of simple dresses for an easily pretty look. These particular sandals I bought at Urban Outfitters for only eleven dollars! The tag had originally said twenty, but upon being rung up, my cashier charged even less than the sale price. why I'll never know, but who am I to argue with good luck?
If I come into a little money sometime soon, I've also got my eye on the sandals here and here.
