Music: 16 Military Wives

I definitely have a new band obsession: The Decemberists. I love this song because it's so catchy and fun, but still has some fantastic lyrics. I honestly think anyone could could fall in love with it. Plus, what's not to love about Colin Meloy's voice? It sort of reminds me of Nine in the Afternoon from P!ATD... anyone else hear the resemblance?

And what's this? An amazon mp3  FREE DOWNLOAD of the song?? You can thank me later, guys.

House

Well, I've finally recieved (most of) my items from the Urban Outfitters sale! I'll show them all soon, but today i'm going to show off my new sandals! These are a welcome extension to my collection of  brown sandals (which has grown to slightly concerning proportions). And their elaborate weave makes them quite possibly the most interesting shoes I own!

Also, I love this dress. I was kind of iffy about the item when I bought it, but now It's one of the most-worn items I have! I throw it on when it's hot out beause it's breezy and no-fuss. I can definitely see this outfit being worn many times over the course of the summer!

Red, White, and Blue

Yes, yes, I understand that this post is quite belated, but later is better than never, right?
In all technicality, this outfit IS red, white, and blue (especially if you count my bike in the background) and features the same dress as is in this post but with a polka dot print.
I hope you had a happy fourth!

Watching The World Go By

Finally, I wore my white jeans. I'm usually hesitant to because I'm afraid to get them dirty. (A valid fear, as you can see from the pictures!)

this hourglass necklace is possibly one of my favorite gifts I've ever been given!

November Rain

I've reworn my pear skirt (a process I can see repeating many times in the near future) with a chambray button-down, my Urban Outfitters bag and Steve Madden Sandals. This is a really nice look that can be worn just about anywhere.
I know the title is a little strange, considering it is neither November nor Raining, but this song just came up on shuffle and I thought I'd feature it.

The Sun Is At The Bottom Of The Bottle

As promised, I wore my new pear skirt today. I ought it at urban outfitters on sale and am thrilled with it because I'm just about ready for a change in the floral prints I have so many of. Unfortunately, the people I saw today were not as stricken by it's print. "Look at my skirt," I told them, irritably, tugging on their shirtsleeves, "It has pears on it." Though my own enthusiasm may have exceeded theirs, I am still totally amazed by the different combinations I can wear this skirt in. A really great buy for $15!

here is a more detailed shot of the print.

L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N

Today I tried something new: a blouse under my chambray dress. It created a pleasing school-uniformish look. To break up the boring neutrals a bit, I added a bright red belt and flats. When I was littler I always wanted to have a school uniform, but now it seems I would get too bored almost immediately.

some good news: my garden is starting to grow out really nicely. I picked a few round, red cherry tomatoes for a snack.
In other news, I've bought myself a skirt covered in pear print from urban outfitters' sale. Photos coming soon!

Dreamer

I've really been doing a lot of research on photography lately. Who doesn't want to be like  a professional photographer, capturing such surreal beauty in everyday things? This Lomography camera in particular really catches my eye. It shoots photos the old fashioned way- manually and with film. The photography people have taken with it reminds me of unique, crackly old vintage pictures from decades ago.

Possibly my favorite detail of this camera is the word "dreamer" around the lens. What a nice touch.
